Home Valley Station – in Parrys Creek – Wyndham
We left Home Valley Station after a memorable 2 days, and headed east on our way to Parry Creek Reserve. Back at the highway, we turned north toward Wyndham, and after a few kms turned right onto the barely marked “Old Halls Creek Road”. This rough and rocky 4WD track wound through the hills past stands of baobob trees; it was quite an amazing sight to see so many baobobs. Checked into Parry Creek Farm, dropped off the trailer, and drove into Wyndham for a “croc pie” lunch. Sadly, the croc pies were gone, and we settled for pepper beef and chicken – that is 2 separate pies! Rob went to explore some Indigenous rock paintings, and I sat over a coffee and vanilla slice. Rob returned to pick me up just as the cafe was closing; he thanked the proprietors for baby-sitting me!
We visited the 5 Rivers lookout that provided amazing views over Ord River (and others), and the extensive river flats.
We drove to the Marglu Billabong for sunset, and watched in amazement as the huge flocks of brolgas, magpie geese, whistling duck, egrets, etc. flew past to their resting grounds. The drive back to Parry’s in the dark was enlivened by views of the pretty and well named pretty faced wallaby (actually, probably the “agile wallaby”).
Another biggish day!
