Fitting out my new Prado at Guest 4WD

12 May 2018

Super-excited to see my new Prado and the fitting out being done at Guest’s 4WD, Alphington; all accessories fitted by Guest’s unless stated otherwise.

The factory-standard shock absorbers and springs have been replaced by Koni shocks and spring giving extra lift and better shock absorption for outback travel. Side note: the factory fitted stuff is being junked 🙁

Toyota fitted the BF Goodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 tyres plus two spares, and the towbar and snorkel.

Redarc battery management system, and dual battery. Mick Guest is pointing out the mounting of the blah-blah (edit later) for optimal cooling at front of the car. And, a shedload of other electronics to make this all work. The attention to detail of the wiring and brackets by Guest’s is amazing.

ARB under protection plates to protect the vulnerable parts of the car.

ARB Summit bull bars to protect against flying kangaroos, bulls and other cars; hopefully not needed, to which UHF aerial and spotlights will be fitted.

Tradesman alloy mesh roof rack with no sides to make loading easier.

Tinted windows for shade and UV protection.

Guest’s have been fantastic, and providing loads of excellent advice, based on years of experience gleaned through extensive outback travel, including a recent trip to NW Australia, the Kimberley and the Pilbara. Thanks a million guys! OK, so I had to take out a second mortgage but quality doesn’t come cheap.
